OBJECTS OF MEMORY is a project funded by ICOM SAREC as part of the ICOM 2023 Call for Solidarity Projects. It is placed under the high patronage of the Malagasy Ministry of Communication and Culture and that of the Malagasy Academy.

A workshop set up in June 2024 in Antananarivo and online allows all local actors to present their flagship object, exchange advice and practices with international experts and members of the ICOM Costume committee online, in a hybrid format.

Through a heritage textile object recently returned to Malagasy territory (Princess Ramasindrazana’s dress), this project includes more generally the technical study, maintenance, display and cultural mediation of clothing objects belonging to the various collections: of the ORMada (Office of the Rova of Madagascar ex Museum of the Queen’s Palace) Antananarivo (royal dress), of the Andohalo Antananarivo Cathedral Museum (liturgical vestment), of the Moramanga Gendarmerie Museum (honorary uniform for motorcycle platoon), the AKAMIA Museum Académie Militaire Antsirabe (military officer’s ceremonial uniform).

OBJETS DE MÉMOIRE est un projet subventionné par ICOM SAREC dans le cadre de l’appel à Projet de solidarité de l’ICOM 2023. Il est placé sous le haut patronage du Ministère de la Communication et de la Culture malgache et celui de l’Académie Malgache.

Un atelier mis en place en juin 2024 à Antananarivo et en ligne permet à tous les acteurs locaux de présenter leur objet phare, d’échanger conseils et pratiques avec des experts internationaux et membres du comité ICOM Costume en ligne, dans un format hybride.

À travers un objet textile patrimonial récemment revenu sur le territoire malgache (la robe de la princesse Ramasindrazana), ce projet inclut plus globalement l’étude technique, l’entretien et la valorisation d’objets vestimentaires appartenant aux diverses collections : de l’ORMada (Office du Rova de Madagascar ex Musée du Palais de la Reine) Antananarivo (robe royale), du Musée de la Cathédrale Andohalo Antananarivo (vêtement liturgique), du Musée de la Gendarmerie Moramanga (tenue d’honneur pour peloton motard), de l’AKAMIA Museum Académie Militaire Antsirabe (tenue d’apparat d’officier militaire).
